    UK weather: Met Office issues snow and ice warnings

    A new weather map shows where in the UK will see snowfall as Britain is set to be hammered by up to 20cm of snow.

    The Met Office has issued yellow weather warnings from 3pm today until 10am on Tuesday across England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

    In England, the areas hit will include the East Midlands, North East, North West, West Midlands and Yorkshire and Humber from as early as 4pm.

    Plunging temperatures are also thought to cause chaos on the country's roads and railways, as temperatures could plummet well below zero overnight.

    Forecasters at the Met Office warned that higher ground could see as much as 20cm of the white stuff, while lower levels could still get up to 10cm.
